Parallels Between Movies and Classic Novels You Might Never Have Noticed (Even if You're Well-Read)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off <-> The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Think: a story of the exploits of a charismatic, intelligent troublemaker and his friends. That's both of these, right? Also, in Chapter 1 of Tom Sawyer, Tom skips school. Ferris Bueller could basically be framed as a modernized retelling of that specific shenanigan.
Jaws <-> Moby-Dick
This one is a little more obvious (just as long as you know the story of Moby Dick).
Cast Away <-> Robinson Crusoe
This is also more obvious, but it's not exactly easy to make this list :)
Pretty much every dystopian film ever made <-> 1984
1984 could effectively be considered the best (and among the first) dystopian novel ever written. In fact, it regularly makes the top 10 of lists of the best novels ever. So naturally, everything of that genre after it has tried to capture that special something that made 1984 so great.
